History

For 32 years, we have been gaining experience and growing along with the evolution of western Canada's oil and natural gas industry. Benoit Oilfield Construction Ltd. was founded in 1976 by Lionel Benoit, and initially focused on roadwork in the area around Chauvin, Alberta, a village east of Wainwright close to the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. Over the following years, the company branched out into ongoing maintenance of oil and natural gas well sites and smaller repair and construction projects.

In the early 1990s, as larger producers increasingly brought their maintenance in-house, and as existing customers offered larger and broader opportunities, Benoit branched out again, moving into construction of field gathering systems and facilities. The company has maintained this focus to the present day.

In 1990, 100 percent ownership of Benoit was acquired from the Benoit family by Calvin Winterholt, a longtime Benoit employee, and another partner. In 2000, the other partner sold his interests and Dan Delemont, a Benoit employee, acquired a 25-percent interest in the company. Calvin and Dan are experienced oilfield service sector operators and continue to be the company's sole owners and senior management team.

In 2000, Benoit became the first company operating in the region to achieve the high safety standards and processes required to receive a Provincial Certificate of Recognition (COR). Benoit has maintained this designation continuously since then.

For the past decade, Benoit's business has expanded through steady organic growth within its focus areas of pipeline and facilities construction and maintenance for the oil and natural gas industry in east central Alberta and west central Saskatchewan. The Company has built up a modern fleet of company-owned equipment. Benoit continues to be based at Chauvin, Alberta, where it operates from a 10-acre facility with 10,000-square-feet of office and fabrication shop buildings. Benoit has a peak seasonal workforce of approximately 90 to 120 employees and managers.
